‘The High Seas, What’s at Stake?’ took place at the Oceanographic Institute in Paris, France, on June 21st 2018. The various guests and participants at the conference tackled the importance of conservation of marine biodiversity in regions outside of national jurisdiction. Professor Rashid Sumaila took part as a guest speaker in a round table to discuss “Why must we act now”. Sumaila commented on the social, environmental, and economic effects of high seas fishing internationally.
